Choose a starting point that fits your website.
Decide what to connect without rebuilding your publication around a new platform.
Before you begin
- Know which platform runs your website.
- Decide whether readers should follow your publication, you personally, or both.
- 01
Start with the website you have
For WordPress, review the ActivityPub plugin path. For Ghost, check whether social web is available through your host. Prefer the supported integration before adding another publishing workflow.
- 02
Separate publication and personal identities
A publication profile distributes the publication’s work. A personal account can join conversations in your own voice. They can complement each other, but clearly tell readers which one they are following.
- 03
If your platform has no supported integration
You can still link to a Fediverse account you control and share your articles there. That does not make your website itself an ActivityPub server. Check your platform’s own documentation before installing a bridge or plugin.
- 04
Choose the smallest useful test
Connect one profile, follow it from another server, and publish one new post. Use what you learn to decide whether you need a more complex setup.
What success looks like
You have a specific profile to connect or link to, a supported setup path, and a simple delivery test.
Turn the guide into progress.
Keep track of the steps you’ve verified, or troubleshoot the part that isn’t working yet.
