Field test / Follow the whole journey

Did your post
make it across?

One real post. One receiving account. A record of what arrived and whether the conversation made it home.

Each publication has its own progress. Switch platforms above or manage your named publications.

01 / Set the scene

A test you can come back to.

Use an account on another server, or ask a trusted reader to help. Enter public details only. This tool records your observations; it does not send a post or inspect delivery.

Copy the link to the specific post you are testing.

Changing the handle, receiving account, or post link clears the five observations so an old result cannot apply to a different test.

02 / Follow the signal

What did you see?

Choose “Worked” only after checking it yourself. Leave untested steps open. If something is unsupported or still missing, record that in your notes.

01Establish the follow

From the receiving account, search for your full publication handle and follow it. Confirm the follow is accepted before publishing your test post.

02Find the new post

Publish a new public post after the follow is accepted. Look for it in the receiving account’s feed. Record when you checked; delivery may take time.

03Read it as a reader

Open the received post. Check the text and article link. If you included images, check their appearance and alt text. Compare with your original; note any missing or changed content.

04Send a reply home

Reply to the received post from the test account. Check your publication’s social interface or moderation queue for that reply. Website comments and social replies may be separate.

05Send a reply back

Reply from the publication’s supported social interface, then check that the receiving account can see it. Record any limits your platform has.

03 / Keep the useful details

Leave a trail for your next test.

Avoid passwords, private messages, and personal information you would not want in a shared report.
